Seek Mental Purity

We seek so many things in our lives. Romantic relationships, gadgets and trinkets, all kinds of sensations, wealth and fame. You name it. We are usually seeking something external, and generally we feel that we will be happy when we get it. How many times have we been disappointed by this ceaseless quest? I don't advocate just giving up and quitting on life. Not at all. Please don't misunderstand. What I have found is a need to be continually reminded that this external pursuit will not ultimately bring happiness, at least not the kind that lasts. Sometime every day must be spent not engrossed and obsessed by this quest for objectives ever on the horizon. How does one seek mental purity?  By making and keeping moral commitments; By thoughts and acts of generosity and kindness; By cultivating understanding and patience. The more time spent in this way, the better! This blog is here to serve as a simple reminder, and hopefully others may find some benefit here as well. Before seeking anything else, Seek Mental Purity.
